9/11/11

Wow. 10 years. Where has the time gone? I was still a young girl...12 years old. I remember when a friend came to school and asked me where my brother Mike was serving his mission because there had been an attack...he was in Salt Lake City. That was all I heard until school was out early that day. When I got home, on the TV was CNN with all the reports of what was going on. I remember being confused as to why something like this would happen...and I think it was out of that confusion that I had a sense of fear. Even though I wasn't in America...it still affected the rest of the world. I think that 9/11/01 is a day that everyone, no matter what country you live in-remembers where they were when they found out. I saw this quote on a friends facebook page and I think its extremely appropriate.

"Now, we have inscribed a new memory alongside those others. It’s a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But not only of loss and mourning. It’s also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice, and the love that lays down its life for a friend–even a friend whose name it never knew. “ -President George W. Bush

I remember that night, laying in bed, with a bit of fear, wondering why someone would be so evil. Wondering where the next place is going to be where there is an attack. A 12 year old girl, trying so hard to comprehend what happened on this day.

I don't think anyone has a valid reason for why this happened other than evil. But, 10 years later, hearing all the heroic stories of many people saving others lives and ending up losing their own, are so inspiring.

It's been 10 years. And I will never forget.
