Do you want to be in our club?

When my family moved to North Battleford SK right before I turned 9 I was so excited. I remember also being really nervous. I remember on my first day at my new school, a girl who I am blessed that I am still able to talk to once in a while asked me "Do you want to be in our club??" Haha the name of the club or reason for the club escapes me now. But that girl became a very good friend of mine throughout the time I lived in North Battleford. Her family was awesome and I loved them all. She was also VERY good friends with the next door neighbor. I got to know her neighbor and her family fairly well, since everyone was together so often.

The neighbor girl was so sweet. She had one brother. I knew a while ago that her little brother had been diagnosed with cancer. Then the last I heard he was doing well and was in remission. I just recently found out that the cancer has come back and they have told him there is nothing more they can do for him. It just breaks my heart. This family is such a wonderful family and my heart aches for them. I can't imagine how much stress and pain they must be in right now. He is such a strong kid though. I read something he wrote and it was just so positive, talking about how he is determined to enjoy Christmas with his family and friends, and how he is going to continue to go to school as long as he can. So inspiring. To the Hawryliw family-my prayers are with you. Nico-you're one strong kid.
